The Serranía de Cuenca and Alto Tajo is widely known for being one of the best areas at national level for the practice of speleology. In its interior are some of the most spectacular and deepest caves such as the Sima del Embalsador, the Sumidero de Mastanos or the nearby Serrezuela de Valsalobre. This activity, which consists of the exploration and progression in caves using specific techniques and materials, requires a great knowledge of various techniques, from climbing to diving. For those visitors not trained in this sport, we recommend visiting the Cueva de la Ramera, which has been adapted for tourist use.
